"Mach and Sebestová" is a Czech feature-length animation that tells the story of Mach and Sebestová from the third grade B class at school. After helping a stranger, they receive a magical telephone receiver. By speaking their wishes into it, the receiver helps them fulfill their wishes, leading to a series of adventurous stories. This animation premiered in 1982 and is considered a classic by many Czechs. Created through the collaboration of the painter Adolf Born and the director Miloš Macourek, the film features only one voice actor for the narration, but his outstanding performance makes the film even more brilliant.
"A Cat and Dog's Story" is adapted from the eponymous novel by Czech painter, writer, and illustrator Josef Čapek. It tells the stories of a cat and a dog living in a cabin in the mountains, cleaning up, making birthday cakes, and so on. Although they often encounter troubles, they always manage to turn things around, have a good relationship with the nearby children, and frequently visit their house. For example, in the episode where they make a birthday cake, they added a bunch of things they liked and created a dark dish, which was eaten by a passing big black dog before they could taste it. When they found out, the big black dog was lying on the ground with a stomach ache and dared not steal food anymore.
The cake they worked hard to make was gone in an instant, and the dog was very angry, not knowing what to do. At this moment, the cat gave him an idea, and they went to the children's house, having a good meal with the children and spending a fulfilling birthday.
